All the good stuff, from wings and sandwiches to chitterlings, oxtail, meatloaf, seafood and barbecue, with lots of homemade sides and desserts. Food is prepared to order, so you can cut wait time by calling ahead. Lloyd Have Mercy also provides catering services.

Taco fanatic Michael Conley of Quillen’s Taco Shack in Titusville is my North Brevard lookout for great dining spots. He found Lloyd Have Mercy in a small strip mall in the North Central part of Titusville, and the experience was heavenly. Conley raved about the smothered pork chops, mac and cheese, lima beans and corn muffins, which only set him back $9. Dining partner Rachel Quillen had the Philly cheesesteak with french fries for $6.

“The food looked and tasted homemade and just as good as my mother’s cooking,” Michael e-mailed. “We both loved it.”

If you’re experiencing a deficit of soul and Southern in your dining, you’ll want to make a stop at Loyd Have Mercy in Titusville.
As always, we evaluate restaurants by what they’re trying to achieve. In this case, it’s inexpensive, hearty home cooking served in the least fancy way imaginable — generally, in a white foam box, even if you’re eating in. And it’s good stuff.

We started with the huge box of gizzards, chewy and fried and fine if you like this sort of thing. It’s not really my thing, but I respect it, and I strongly recommend a dose of the house hot sauce with it. It’s $4 with a side; we didn’t get a side, so I guess that’s why it was just $2.50 on the receipt.

Loyd Have Mercy’s Southern fare feeds the soul…after eating here, your ribs are likely to be mighty sticky, or perhaps greased up, depending on your constitution.

You really can’t go wrong here. Prices are cheap and food is down home good. Garlic Shrimp are big and flavorful. They have Oxtails, Crabs, Cubed Steak, Gizzards, Fried Okra, Collards, Grits, Sheephead, Chicken over rice, etc. They do a huge take out and sit down style is equally nice. So, happy something like this exists around here. We come from Cocoa to eat here, others travel further. It’s worth it.
